DeepSea Technologies applies deep learning to the shipping industry, a Greek team of AI researchers, engineers, and sector experts building the software that makes commercial shipping leaner, greener, and better connected. The product itself, the algorithms, the sea-trial data, the deep-learning pipeline, sits entirely outside the scope of this engagement; that is DeepSea's own domain. Our scope is the back office underneath: the financial and operational layer that has to run cleanly so the engineering team does not have to think about it. Engagements of this shape, where the value driver is a deep-tech product and the operational footprint just needs to be quietly correct on the Greek regulatory and IFRS reporting side, are exactly what Existanze's implementation practice is built for. Our methodology rests on fifteen years of systems-integration work, our proprietary EXN Middleware platform, a canonical data model honed across 90+ production integrations, and a portfolio of Odoo modules we author and maintain in-house, including bespoke application-level modules built specifically for the customer in front of us. Since 2019 we have been DeepSea's Odoo partner: we picked the platform up on version 11 and have carried it forward release after release, with the current upgrade cycle taking it to version 19.
Greek deep-tech back office on Odoo with subscription billing, IFRS reporting, and AADE compliance
DeepSea runs on Odoo across Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Accounting, and Subscriptions. Sales and Purchase handle the commercial and procurement sides, Inventory carries the materials and equipment layer, and Subscriptions carries the recurring-revenue side of the business with automated invoice generation. The heart of the engagement, however, sits across Subscriptions and Accounting, where the bookkeeping consolidation has to land cleanly month after month.
On top of the standard Subscriptions invoicing flow we wrote a bespoke application-level pro-rata billing module so partial-period invoices, mid-cycle activations, mid-cycle changes, mid-cycle terminations, land on the right reporting month and roll cleanly into the consolidated close. The intent is bookkeeping coherence: a fragmented subscription billing surface produces fragmented financial entries, and the close cycle should not have to manually re-stitch what the billing engine should have stitched in the first place. The pro-rata module is one of two bespoke Existanze-written modules in production at DeepSea.
The Greek-statutory layer is delivered on our EXN Greek Localization and EXN AADE MyData modules, with every transaction submitted to AADE in real time on the document classification codes the regime requires and no manual reconciliation step. On top of that statutory layer sits the second bespoke module of the engagement, this one for IFRS reporting, so the same Odoo ledger produces both Greek statutory financials and IFRS-format statements from one set of underlying entries. For an internationally facing Greek deep-tech operator with shipowner customers and the kind of stakeholder mix that eventually expects IFRS-grade statements, dual reporting is not a nice-to-have, it is the floor; carrying it inside the same Odoo platform rather than via a side spreadsheet is what makes the close defensible at month-end and at audit-time alike.
